Sunday Morning
Our morning program is coordinated by our staff but insists that the students
take ownership of the club atmosphere. Here is a typical Sunday morning
structure, told by one of our very own students!
10:45-11:00 – Welcome Time
“If you come to PAK 45 and walk into the room for the first time, you would see
student greeters who welcome you, give you a name tag, and introduce you to
other kids in the room. This is really helpful since you don’t know anybody and
this is a bit awkward. You also will be given any materials necessary for that
morning (pen, notes page, Bible, etc.).
“As you continue into the room, you hear cool music and see kids doing various
activities, like playing air hockey, foosball, video, cards, and board games.
Sit down and jump on in! (Both the greeters and gamers had to get to PAK 45 a
little early to make sure it was done before anyone actually arrived!)
11:00-11:10 - Announcements
“Aww, bummer! Just as you finally get into a game and have gotten to meet some
new friends, an adult staff leader instructs everyone to clean up and come take
a seat. Once everyone is seated, our club announcer formally welcomes
everyone---and especially asks for visitors to stand and be introduced. Then we
all go crazy for you! Any important club announcements (events, etc.) also
occur during this time.
11:10-11:20 – Crowd Breaker
“Finally, nearly a half hour into the club, an adult staff leader ‘takes over’
by doing a crowd breaker activity that is just plain fun or perhaps relates to
the lesson to be taught today.
11:20-11:35 - Teaching
“Now it is time for a brief lesson from our staff leader. He or she prays
before actually beginning, and then we all take out our notebooks and take
notes just like the staff leader models for us. This is really helpful because
we are learning to take notes for the first time, and we also earn ‘bucks’ for
paying attention and participating. And if we bring a friend, we get 5 bucks!
As we earn ‘bucks,’ we can buy cool prizes at the end of the month!
11:35-11:55 – Small Group Discussion
“This is the best part, I think! After the brief teaching time by our staff
leader, we get to break down into small discussion groups. Boys go with boys,
and girls with girls, and our groups only have 4-5 students per staff leader,
so we get to talk about a lot of important stuff and apply the Bible to our
lives! Then we pray and go home!”
